Suspect Escapes on Train Tracks Following Molestation

TOKYO, Jul 21 (News On Japan) - A 54-year-old man was arrested after jumping onto the tracks at JR Osaki Station and attempting to flee following an accusation of molestation.

The suspect, identified as Toshihiko Nojiri, a company employee, allegedly committed indecent acts against a woman in her 20s on the Yamanote Line train at Osaki Station. He then jumped onto the tracks to escape, disrupting train operations on the Yamanote Line.

Witnesses reported hearing a young man shout 'Molester!' and 'Catch him!' as the suspect descended from the platform and entered the tracks. He then climbed over a fence to continue his escape.

Cornered by the victim and other pursuers, Nojiri allegedly jumped onto the tracks. Witnesses described seeing him initially attempting to flee to the right before changing direction, crossing the Yamanote Line tracks, and running several dozen meters before scaling a fence taller than himself.

In his statement, Nojiri said, 'I was exposed. I wanted to escape this situation immediately, so I ran at full speed.'
