Newborn's Body Found at Kobe Golf Course

KOBE, Jul 21 (News On Japan) - A 28-year-old woman has been arrested following Friday's discovery of a newborn baby's body at a golf course in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture.

According to police reports, around 2:30 p.m. on July 19th, a female cleaning staff member discovered a suspicious plastic bag in the women's restroom at a golf course in Kita Ward, Kobe City. Upon investigating the contents, responding officers found the body of a newborn boy inside.

After reviewing security camera footage and other evidence, police determined that the body was abandoned around 4:20 p.m. on July 18th. Yuka Tatehara, an unemployed resident of Hirano Ward, Osaka City, was identified and subsequently arrested on suspicion of abandoning a corpse.

Tatehara admitted to the charges, stating, 'The baby is mine.' Police believe she gave birth in a restroom stall and abandoned the newborn immediately afterward. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the baby's death and further details surrounding the incident.
