TOKYO, Aug 03 (News On Japan) - The Japanese government held the first meeting of an expert panel, with legal framework in mind, to balance the promotion of technological development and the risks of spreading misinformation amid the rapid proliferation of AI.
Prime Minister Kishida stated, "AI's uses are diverse, and technological innovation is rapid, making future predictions difficult. However, I aim to lead discussions that will position us as global leaders."
Kishida reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety of generative AI and enhancing development capabilities in the international community.
He also requested that experts consider legal regulations.
Based on the discussions in the meeting, the government aims to submit related bills to the regular Diet session as early as next year.
