NAGASAKI, Aug 08 (News On Japan) - Seven ambassadors to Japan, including those from the United States, will not attend the Nagasaki Peace Memorial Ceremony on August 9th due to the exclusion of the Israeli ambassador.
According to sources, U.S. Ambassador Rahm Emanuel and U.K. Ambassador Julia Longbottom are among the seven ambassadors who have decided to skip the ceremony after Nagasaki City chose not to invite the Israeli ambassador.
In addition, the ambassadors of the G7 countries, excluding Japan, have sent a joint letter to the Mayor of Nagasaki, urging a reconsideration of the decision. They argued that Israel should not be equated with Russia and Belarus, which were also not invited.
