BEIJING, Aug 22 (News On Japan) - Japanese sushi chain Sushiro has opened its first store in Beijing, China. Despite the Chinese government's ongoing ban on importing Japanese seafood, Sushiro is accelerating its expansion into the Chinese market, capitalizing on its reputation for affordability.
The new store, located in a central Beijing shopping mall, opened Wednesday to long lines, with many customers eager to try the offerings. Prices start at around 200 yen per plate, making it cheaper than dining at local Japanese restaurants, and the store offers a menu of 220 items, more than what is available in Japan.
One customer commented, ‘The sushi is very fresh and delicious. The cost-performance is great.’
The Beijing location is also the first in mainland China to offer private dining rooms, catering to families and other groups.
