OSAKA, Apr 14 (News On Japan) - The Osaka-Kansai Expo drew large crowds on its second day under clear skies, with countries launching their 'National Day' events, and a highly anticipated flying car demonstration that had been canceled due to bad weather on April 13th.
Though early crowds lined up before gates opened, afternoon time slots still had some availability.
Starting April 14th, participating countries and regions began celebrating their designated National Days. These occasions are expected to bring VIPs from around the world to the venue nearly every day. The first National Day honored Turkmenistan, with its president attending as a guest of honor.
A highly anticipated demonstration of a "flying car," which had been canceled due to bad weather on April 13th, was successfully held on the 14th. The crowd erupted in cheers as the aircraft lifted off.
One visitor commented, "I was amazed to see it take off so effortlessly. The pilot even let go of the controls mid-air!" Another said, "It was incredible. It really felt like the future."
Despite the excitement, some logistical issues persisted. On April 13th, many visitors struggled to connect their smartphones, particularly near the East Gate connected to the train station. In response, mobile base stations were deployed on-site starting April 14th to strengthen network coverage. Organizers are also urging visitors to print or screenshot their QR codes to ensure smooth entry even if mobile signals fail.
Congestion around pavilions, souvenir shops, and exit areas was also a challenge on the first day. Attention is now turning to whether weekday operations on April 14th will ease the crowding seen on the weekend.
