Two Arrested for Tracking Women by GPS and Forcing Into Prostitution

TOKYO, Oct 15 (News On Japan) - Police arrested two people, including bar manager Maoya Suzuki, on suspicion of violating Japan’s Anti-Prostitution Law after allegedly forcing a female employee at a girls’ bar into prostitution while monitoring her movements through GPS.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Suzuki and fellow staff member Aya Tano made the woman live inside the bar’s premises, subjected her to verbal abuse such as “Your appearance is bad, that’s why sales are low” and “Go stand on the street,” and forced her to solicit clients around Okubo Park in Shinjuku.

Investigators believe the suspects coerced the woman into having sex with roughly 400 customers and pocketed about 6 million yen in earnings from the encounters. The police are continuing their investigation into the operation’s full extent and possible additional victims.
