Nov 27 (NHK) - The Japanese arm of German automaker Porsche says it will open a Porsche Experience Center in Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture, next August.
The 43-hectare facility will have a roughly 2-kilometer track where visitors can enjoy the full potential of the automaker's cars. The firm says the course will recreate parts of some of the world's most famous race tracks. The center will also feature a racing simulator.
CEO of Porsche Japan, Michael Kirsch, said the facility will become an important tourist destination for Japan. The automaker expects it will draw 10,000 visitors a year.
The facility will be the first of its kind in Japan and the ninth in the world.
Local authorities are counting on the center to generate jobs for people in the area.
