Jul 12 (Kyodo) - The procession of a major festival in Kyoto will be held on Oct. 22 after a two-year suspension amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The "Jidai Matsuri" (Festival of the Ages), one of the city's three main festivals, was first held in 1895 to commemorate the 1,100th anniversary of the foundation of Kyoto as the ancient capital of Japan.
The annual festival features a procession of people dressed in costumes from almost every period of Japanese history.
