Sep 26 (NHK) - Trial runs of a bullet train of the Hokuriku Shinkansen line have begun in an extended part of the line set to open in March.
The move follows runs of a test train that started last Saturday.
The new section links Kanazawa Station in Ishikawa Prefecture and Tsuruga Station in neighboring Fukui Prefecture, both along the Sea of Japan coast.
Hokuriku Shinkansen trains now run between Tokyo and Kanazawa, operated by East Japan Railway and West Japan Railway.
Shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a train consisting of the W7 series of cars left Kanazawa for Tsuruga.
The train speed reached a maximum of 110 kilometers an hour. The top speed is expected to be raised gradually to 260 kilometers an hour in the test runs scheduled through early December. ...continue reading
