TOKYO, Jul 08 (News On Japan) - Known as the 'Ise Shrine of Tokyo,' Tokyo Daijingu, located in Chiyoda Ward, is famed for its blessings in love and matchmaking. On July 7, Tanabata Day, many visitors, including those dressed in yukata, flocked to the shrine.
The grounds were adorned with bamboo trees decorated with colorful strips of paper, or tanzaku, inscribed with visitors' wishes. Attendees wrote their hopes and dreams on these tanzaku, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The 'Tanabata Festival' at Tokyo Daijingu, held every July 7, is a time to pray for the fulfillment of heartfelt desires and protection from misfortune.
While the festival was conducted solely by the shrine's priests in previous years due to the impact of COVID-19, this year saw the participation of the general public, who came to pray for their wishes to be granted.
As night fell, the Tanabata decorations were illuminated, creating a magical ambiance for all who visited.
