Javelin Pierces Student's Neck During Practice in Morioka

IWATE, Jul 17 (News On Japan) - A high school student suffered a serious neck injury when a javelin pierced his neck during practice in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, on Tuesday.

At around 5:30 p.m. on the 16th, a second-year male student from Morioka Commercial High School's track and field team was practicing javelin thrusts into the ground when the handle side of the javelin rebounded and stabbed him in the neck.

According to the school, the student remained conscious, and his life is not in danger.

The javelin, made of metal with a pointed handle, penetrated the left side of his neck and nearly perforated it. However, there was no significant damage to his blood vessels.
