TOKYO, Jul 19 (News On Japan) - Shibuya Station, undergoing a once-in-a-century large-scale redevelopment, will open a new ticket gate to improve accessibility in previously less convenient areas.
Starting from the 21st, the new South Gate will be situated in the middle of the passage connecting the two buildings, Shibuya Stream and Shibuya Sakura Stage.
The south side of Shibuya Station has previously faced challenges due to the distance to the ticket gates and the lack of a passage crossing the tracks, leading to low convenience.
A passage was established in Shibuya Sakura Stage, constructed last November, allowing for smoother pedestrian flow, which has increased by 1.4 times compared to before the redevelopment.
On the 25th of this month, stores in the commercial area will also open simultaneously, further revitalizing this area.
