TOKYO, Jul 23 (News On Japan) - Demolition work on a nearly completed ten-story apartment building in Kunitachi, Tokyo, which obstructed the view of Mount Fuji, began last week, seeking to restore the once picturesque view from the 'Fujimidori' shopping street extending from JR Kunitachi Station.
The apartment building along the street became a significant issue as it blocked half of the Mount Fuji view. Last month, Sekisui House, the developer, decided to demolish the building just before its completion.
According to Sekisui House, the company explained the situation to local residents and commenced demolition work on July 16. The demolition is scheduled to be completed by August next year, with no plans yet for the future use of the site.
Sekisui House commented, "We are taking every precaution to minimize inconvenience by ensuring thorough safety, noise, and vibration measures during the demolition."
