HOKKAIDO, Aug 05 (News On Japan) - Bear sightings have been increasing in Esashi Town, Hokkaido, as they wandering through residential areas while scavenging for discarded scallops.
This video shows a bear filmed in Cape Town, Esashi, after 7 PM on August 3rd. The bear can be seen slowly crossing in front of a parked truck before moving into a residential area. It was also filmed wandering near houses.
At around 9 PM, a worker from a seafood processing company in New Port Town, Esashi, reported to the police that a bear was scavenging for discarded scallops.
According to the police, a bear approximately 2.5 meters in length was sighted.
A local resident said, 'It’s frightening. You can’t just walk around at night.'
There have been over 30 bear sightings in Esashi Town since last month, and the police have heightened their vigilance.
