TOKYO, Aug 28 (News On Japan) - The largest domestic exhibition dedicated to end-of-life services and products, including funerals, memorials, and inheritance planning, has begun in Tokyo.
The 'End-of-Life Industry Expo' features approximately 160 companies, including those proposing new approaches to end-of-life planning, such as the development of a 'sōtōba printing system' designed to reduce the workload in temples facing a shortage of successors.
Among the notable offerings are digital innovations such as the 'digital altar,' which allows the living to remember the deceased through video, and the 'light grave,' a tree-burial monument decorated with colorful glass, showcasing the diversity of modern memorial practices.
As Japan's super-aging society continues to grow, the end-of-life business is expected to expand further.
