Dec 12 (NHK) - A freight train has gone off the tracks in southwestern Japan's Kagoshima Prefecture. Services on the Kagoshima Main Line remain partially suspended.
Kyushu Railway Company says the 12-car freight train left a switchyard in Kumamoto City and was bound for Kagoshima Station. It indicates the train jumped the tracks at Sendai Station at around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday. No one was injured.
NHK footage shows the foremost engine car off the tracks and leaning to the left. At least two freight cars are also off the tracks, and some of the wheels are stuck in gravel.
Services on the Kagoshima Main Line between Sendai and Kumanojo stations have been suspended because of the accident.
