TOKYO, Aug 06 (News On Japan) - The impact of Trump-era tariffs is being strongly felt. Mazda has announced its financial forecast for the fiscal year through March 2026, which had previously been left undecided due to the uncertainty surrounding the tariffs.
The company expects operating profit, which reflects its core business earnings, to plunge 73.1% from the previous year to 50 billion yen. Net profit is projected to fall even more sharply—down 82.5% to 20 billion yen.
Tariffs have raised costs significantly, pushing down operating profit by over 230 billion yen. Mazda stated that it will work to reduce the impact through cost-cutting measures and other operational efficiencies.
