TOKYO, Sep 01 (News On Japan) - Japan’s manufacturing sector suffered a noticeable blow from the so-called Trump tariffs, with transport equipment makers particularly hard-hit.
According to corporate financial statistics released by the Ministry of Finance, current profits for manufacturers from April to June fell 11.5% compared to the same period last year.
The drop was largely driven by sharp declines in the transport equipment category, including automobiles, which was significantly affected by U.S. trade measures introduced under former President Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, overall corporate current profits across all industries exceeded 35 trillion yen, marking a record high on a quarterly basis.
