TOKYO, Sep 24 (News On Japan) - Ferrari Japan unveiled the new plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHV) ‘849 Testarossa’ in Tokyo on September 24th, carrying forward the name of the legendary Testarossa.
The model succeeds the flagship SF90 Stradale, with improved engine output and aerodynamics. It can exceed a top speed of 330 kilometers per hour and accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.3 seconds.
The car’s name, 849, signifies its eight-cylinder engine with a displacement of 499cc per cylinder. Equipped with a 3,990cc V8 engine and three electric motors, the system delivers a maximum output of 1,050 horsepower, up 50 horsepower from the previous model. The vehicle can travel up to 25 kilometers on electric power alone. The price is set at 64.65 million yen including tax, with deliveries scheduled between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first half of 2027.
The Testarossa name, which originally symbolized Ferrari’s high-performance engines and became an icon of the 1980s with the 1984 model, continues to shine as a design symbol. The 849 Testarossa inherits this tradition with a striking design, including connected front lights and a large spoiler that enhances aerodynamic performance. Its body measures 4,718mm in length, 2,304mm in width, and 1,225mm in height, with a weight of 1,570kg. Painted in an amber-toned finish, the new flagship has already drawn global attention since its world premiere in Italy earlier this month on September 9th.
