TOKYO, Jan 27 (News On Japan) - Prince Akishino, his wife Princess Kiko, and their daughter Princess Kako attended the 'Kanto-Tokai Flower Exhibition' held in Tokyo's Ikebukuro area.
The exhibition, sponsored by 1 metropolitan and 11 prefectural governments and six flower-related organizations, welcomed the royal family members for the second consecutive year.
The family admired various displays, including an object representing Ibaraki Prefecture's 'Fukuroda Falls' using weeping willows and other elements. They also inspected a new variety of rose, with Princess Kako inquiring, "What is its name?" about a light purple rose designed for bridal occasions.
Additionally, they observed a 'flower arranging battle' where high school students paired up to arrange flowers improvisationally. Princess Kako asked about their practice routine, while Prince Akishino commented on the impressive balance of the arrangements, and Princess Kiko appreciated the remarkable teamwork.
