TOKYO, Feb 01 (News On Japan) - Have you ever wondered why some dogs seem to relish the chance to bury their faces in the snow?
On a snowy day, a dog that adores the snow was out for a walk. With each step, it eagerly plunged its face into the fluffy white powder. Seemingly enchanted by the feel of snow, the dog repeatedly buried its face, putting its walk on hold.
So, what drives this peculiar behavior?
According to dog trainer Masaki Kanoy, this action might be an expression of a dog's hunting instincts. "They seem to be searching for something in the snow. Although most dogs are not fond of getting wet and may not typically enjoy snow, this dog might be an exception. Perhaps it has been around snow since it was young and is comfortable with it. Even though domesticated dogs don't hunt, their instincts remain."
This behavior was observed in a four-year-old Shiba Inu named Azuki. Despite the domestication of dogs and the cessation of hunting activities, it seems their innate instincts persist.
