KAMAKURA, Jul 30 (News On Japan) - An emergency call was made on Monday evening at around 6 PM, reporting the sound of a child's voice coming from a manhole in Koshigoe Fishing Port, Kamakura.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police heard a child crying and immediately began rescue efforts in collaboration with the fire department. Approximately 30 minutes later, they successfully rescued an elementary school student from the manhole.
The child was unharmed and is believed to have wandered into the manhole from a storm drain near the beach.
