MANILA, Aug 25 (News On Japan) - During the Pacific War, families were torn apart, leaving many Japanese behind in the Philippines who remain 'stateless' to this day.
A year has passed since the initial coverage of their plight, and new developments have emerged both domestically and internationally. However, the road to regaining Japanese citizenship remains steep. The aging survivors, now in their 80s and 90s, are passing away one by one.
Supporters express growing urgency, stating that "this year, marking the 80th anniversary of the war's end, may be the last chance" to resolve this issue. The question remains: how is the Japanese government confronting this reality? Are there concrete measures in place to accelerate efforts toward their rescue?
