No foul play in death of actor-singer Nakayama Miho, Tokyo police say

Dec 09 (NHK) - Tokyo police say they have determined there was no foul play in the death of Japanese actor and singer Nakayama Miho. Nakayama was found dead in the bathroom of her home in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on Friday. Police in the capital reportedly rushed to Nakayama's home in Shibuya Ward after receiving a call from her management agency on Friday afternoon. She was reportedly found dead in the bathroom.

The Metropolitan Police Department investigated the cause of Nakayama's death. It said on Sunday there were no noticeable wounds on the body. But it did not disclose the cause of death, citing her relatives' strong wishes.

Nakayama's management agency said on its website on Sunday that an autopsy confirmed there was no foul play. It added that her death was caused by an accident that occurred while she was taking a bath.

The agency said its staff are all deeply saddened by Nakayama's sudden death and wish to express their heartfelt gratitude for the warm support and consideration shown by many people.

Nakayama made her debut in 1985 and released a number of hit songs.

She had been scheduled to perform in the western city of Osaka on the day she was found dead.

The agency did not announce a date or venue for a funeral, but said it is considering holding an event to allow people to bid farewell.
