Seminar Focuses on Women and Alcohol

TOKYO, Dec 13 (News On Japan) - As the year-end season approaches, opportunities to consume alcohol, such as at year-end parties, increase. Recently, there has been a noticeable rise in the number of women drinking alcohol.

To encourage safe and enjoyable consumption, a seminar was held to promote awareness of drinking risks.

In recent years, lifestyle changes and greater societal participation by women have contributed to this trend. According to data, while alcohol consumption among men has declined, it has risen among women.

In response, major beverage company Kirin held its first seminar focusing on the theme of "Women and Alcohol."

Sayaka Goto from Kirin and Communications said, "While there are more options for enjoying alcohol, women's bodies have not become more tolerant to alcohol."

The seminar included activities such as a patch test to help participants determine their alcohol tolerance and safe consumption levels.

A corporate representative attending the seminar noted, "Many younger employees have not experienced office parties due to the pandemic. With the year-end and New Year season approaching, we wanted them to gain proper knowledge about responsible drinking."
