Shooting at Starbucks Leaves Man Dead, Suspect on the Run, Possible Yakuza Involvement

EHIME, Jan 15, 2024 (News On Japan) - A man was shot and killed on Sunday afternoon at Starbucks in Shikokuchuo, Ehime Prefecture, with the gunman reported to be on the run.

A staff member at the "Starbucks Aeon Town Kawanoee Store" called emergency services at around 4:00 PM reporting that a man sitting at the terrace seating had been shot with a handgun.

It is believed that 3 to 4 shots were fired, and a middle-aged man was seen leaving the scene.

The victim was identified as Yuichiro Ishikawa (49), who was found bleeding from the chest. He was later confirmed dead at hospital.

Multiple investigative sources suggest the possibility of Yakuza involvement. Police are treating it as a homicide and are searching for the male suspect.
