TOKYO, Jul 13 (News On Japan) - Film cameras are experiencing an unexpected resurgence in Japan, as young consumers explore their nostalgic charm.
The unique quality of film images is seen as refreshing by the younger generation. Kentaro Tanikawa from Kitamura Camera Store in Shinjuku observed, 'The depth of color in film seems to resonate with young people. It’s a trend I’ve noticed over the past two to three years.'
Seizing the opportunity presented by this film camera revival, Ricoh Imaging’s PENTAX division has released a new film camera for the first time in 21 years. Makoto Iikawa from the PENTAX division explained, 'We intentionally made the film winding mechanism manual to enhance the tactile experience.'
The demand for this new model has been so high that pre-orders, which began last month, quickly exceeded expectations, forcing a temporary halt to further orders.
