LONDON, Jul 24 (News On Japan) - A model of the next-generation fighter jet jointly developed by Japan, the UK, and Italy has been unveiled at an airshow in the UK.
The Japanese government aims to deploy this next-generation fighter by 2035. British defense companies, co-developing the aircraft with Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and others, expressed confidence that the development is progressing as planned.
BAE Systems' Stocker stated, 'We respect the technology and work brought by our Japanese partners. As one team, we can swiftly advance the development plan.'
Regarding the next-generation fighter, the UK's new Prime Minister Starmer described it as an 'important project.' However, there are reports suggesting that the project could be canceled due to a review of defense policies following the change in administration.
