TOKYO, May 13 (News On Japan) - A growing number of people report experiencing physical and mental fatigue after Japan's Golden Week holiday, a phenomenon often referred to as "May sickness."
According to a survey conducted by Oisix, a food delivery service operator, 45% of respondents said they have experienced May sickness. Among them, 12% said it happens every year, while 13% said it occurs once every few years.
The most common symptoms reported were fatigue and sluggishness, followed by decreased motivation and energy, as well as irritability, stress, and reduced concentration.
The survey also revealed that 84% of those affected felt the symptoms interfered with their daily activities, such as work or housework.
Experts suggest that the overlap of seasonal transitions and shifts in routine after the holiday period may contribute to the onset of these symptoms.
