TOKYO, Sep 15 (News On Japan) - An initiative to reuse soil generated during decontamination work in Fukushima Prefecture after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident has started at central government ministries in Kasumigaseki, Tokyo.
On September 14th, soil was delivered to a flower bed at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
According to the Ministry of the Environment, the soil will be laid to a thickness of about 55 centimeters and then covered with around 20 centimeters of regular soil to prevent scattering or runoff. By introducing its use in government facilities, the ministry hopes to encourage broader public understanding and acceptance of reusing decontaminated soil.
