PM Kishida Deploys Bulletproof Panels

CHIBA, Aug 02 (News On Japan) - Japanese Prime Minister Kishida has started using transparent panels for security during outdoor press conferences.

While visiting Mie Prefecture, Prime Minister Kishida inspected the government's "Digital Garden City Nation" initiative. Following the inspection, he delivered a speech at a ceremony.

"Hello everyone, I am Prime Minister Fumio Kishida," he said.

In front of him stood an unfamiliar transparent panel, resembling the acrylic boards commonly seen but with noticeable differences.

"Congratulations on this auspicious day," Kishida continued.

To understand what the panel was, we asked Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno.

"In response to last month's shooting incident involving former President Trump in the United States, we have instructed prefectural police to thoroughly utilize bulletproof materials and equipment," Matsuno explained.

This security measure follows the attempted assassination of former President Trump, which resulted in three casualties.

On Thursday afternoon, Prime Minister Kishida visited Sakura City in Chiba Prefecture.

According to government officials, as a part of enhanced security measures, public access to the shopping district was restricted.
