TOKYO, Aug 07 (News On Japan) - Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike suffered a knee fracture during a ceremonial first pitch at a professional baseball game held at Jingu Stadium on August 6th and will be working remotely for the foreseeable future.
According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Governor Koike, 72, lost her balance when her left foot slipped while pitching from the mound during the first pitch ceremony at Jingu Stadium on Tuesday.
She was later diagnosed with a knee joint fracture at a medical facility. The recovery period is expected to be two months, and she will conduct her official duties remotely during this time.
Governor Koike participated in the ceremonial first pitch to promote the World Athletics Championships and the Deaflympics, both scheduled to be held next year.
