Apr 17 (News On Japan) - Four people have been arrested on suspicion of creating and selling obscene images of women using generative AI technology. This marks the first time in Japan that AI-generated content has been treated as obscene material under the law.
The suspects, including both men and women, are accused of producing explicit images of women that do not exist in real life and distributing them online. According to police, the individuals admitted to learning how to create the images through self-study.
Investigators say this is the first case nationwide in which AI-generated images have been recognized as violating obscenity laws.
