TOKYO, Nov 03 (News On Japan) - [03:00] Typhoon No. 25 (Kalmaegi) is currently located east of the Philippines and moving westward. It is expected to intensify while passing near the Philippines before entering the South China Sea and approaching Vietnam. Meteorological agencies say there will be no direct impact on Japan.
At 3 a.m., the storm’s maximum sustained winds reached 30 meters per second, accompanied by a storm zone with strong gusts. The system is projected to strengthen further as it moves westward and is forecast to cross the Philippines on November 4th. Heavy rain and strong winds are expected across the region as it passes.
By November 7th, Kalmaegi is forecast to reach maximum winds of 40 meters per second with a central pressure of around 955 hectopascals near Vietnam, where it is likely to make landfall. While Japan will not be affected, authorities warn that the Philippines, Vietnam, and Laos could face severe weather and possible damage.
