SAPPORO, Mar 04 (News On Japan) - A company in Sapporo is opening its internal training room as temporary accommodation for university entrance exam students as a shortage of hotel rooms emerges ahead of the final tour of the idol group Arashi scheduled for next week.
A reporter noted that the company will open a room usually used for training sessions and meetings to host up to eight students.
Ikeda Danbo Kogyo, an equipment company located in Kita Ward, Sapporo, decided to lend its training room free of charge for one night starting on March 11th after Arashi’s concert dates overlapped with the second-round entrance examinations at Hokkaido University, leading to difficulty securing accommodations in the area.
On the day, the room will be divided with partitions and equipped with simple beds to allow students to stay overnight.
In addition, the company will make its business meeting spaces available as areas where students can study or eat meals.
Sasaki Tadashi of Ikeda Danbo Kogyo said: "Our office is located about a four- or five-minute walk from Hokkaido University, so we hope students can stay here and arrive at the exam fully prepared."
The initiative is aimed at male high school students living within Hokkaido who plan to take Hokkaido University’s second-round entrance examinations, and advance registration is required.
